Eastern Wyoming College uses CampusCruiser LMS to support all its distance courses. It has been rebranded as “LancerNet” and provides the kinds of tools and processes that most learning management systems use: students can upload files to submit assignments, take online tests, participate in online discussions using the Message Board, and communicate with their instructor through a personal journal.
Although there is no orientation course, working in LancerNet is fairly easy. Basic tools are always available on the left side of the window, including “Student Tools” where students can find their grades, assignments, assessments, and the journal. The larger part of a class welcome page provides a place for announcements, activity indicators for the Message Board, a calendar of important dates, and access to all course content.
Most course material is delivered by clicking through large icons on the class welcome page. Students should read through the “Get Started” materials, as well as the syllabus and schedule which can be easily printed. There is typically a “Units” icon which will lead the student into material organized by the instructor for the student to consider each week or so.
